We live in a wild west of unrestricted fireworks here with a stand selling them basically on every other corner. They go off basically all day long and well after midnight and it’s exhausting.

Same - I used to love fireworks but it’s a bit much now.

The dog doesn’t mind though - she got trained to not be bothered by firearms early and doesn’t really see any difference. She’ll get irritated if a big boom wakes her up from a nap but otherwise they bother the wife and me more.

Oh since that is in the East Bay nobody will pay attention to it, and all the Hellcats will be stolen again while some morons put on a side show in the middle of the highway . Yeah I think I’ll stay over here to the north. Back home it is pretty annoying too though... Oahu turns into one big cloud of smoke like the whole island was set on fire with gunpowder. I hate fireworks, a lot of homes in Hawaii have lo uvred plantation windows that don’t fully seal. So you get smoke in the house too. I used to blow shit up for a living, so some fireworks do nothing for me.

Been illegal in my city and adjacent areas for years, enforcement is lax at its most extreme - there will still be a ton of it in the next few days no doubt, especially as the official displays have been canceled.

Shake roofs continue to be a weird fetish here for some people - be sure to hose it down every day for the next week or so.

I was a USMC targeting intel officer, I started on air intel, then ground/ recon and then I worked with the Aussies and Brits doing the same job but with DIA. Basically figure out what has to be blown up and decide the best way to do it. But war is just stupid, we need to stop teaching kids its cool and ban video games like that.

I’ve never understood how those games are not a bad idea. A guy I go to church with is the director of all things sound-related for one of the big names that I can’t think of, which includes the WWII title that came out last year. He struts around like he’s the coolest and I’m like, why don’t you just earn your salary selling drugs? (I don’t say that, but he knows I don’t think it’s much to get excited about.)

I’m in Santa Barbara most of the time, but at this moment am out at the ranch in Tucson for the holiday week coming up.

I make fun of the carve-out, only because ALL of SB County has fireworks being illegal... or so I thought, but once I looked it turns out that Santa Maria, being the Outlaw Town it is became The Place Where Fireworks Are Legal. (But don’t leave the city limits!)

Yeah the US and Britain are still high on WWII, it represents this time they see as a just fight and everyone who didn’t participate sees it through rose colored glasses. Even Nam, it was horrible thing but movies in the 80's had us kids running around in the forest playing games . But ask a veteran what they think about it. We have to get over that shit, nobody should want to grow up to do it, the tactibro Jeep people who were never in the military and stockpile ARs piss me off. And many of the ones who were in the military and do that shit were never in combat, they were some kind of support role . People assume I’m on their side when it comes to gun rights. I say ban handguns like the UK, it helped a lot there, and nobody needs anything more to hunt than a bolt/lever action or a shotgun . Sorry posers you don’t need your customized assault weapon to hunt, you just wanted to look like a badass a nd shoot stuff with it . I was an A rcheology/Humanities dual major actually. I was a first lieutenant for four years before I went federal for three years , I went to the hospital once for each and we decided a third was probably not something to aim for. Looking back now I should have tried to do something else within the agency, my whole industry is shut down now and I don’t know how to do anything else useful in the civilian world. I almost became and SFPD cop, I did ride alongs and saw how awful it was to babysit idiots and mentally ill people day in and day out. My wife didn’t want me i nvolved with guns anymore either.
